About The Festival

Running Up To The Arts Festival During May

The festival is made up of the actual festival day and celebrations on the Saturday 10th May 2008 with workshops, music and events for different groups and ages.

There will be great opportunities to do fantastic fun and creative learning activities with kids and parents during these workshops. The workshops will work towards participation and celebration of what has been created or learnt at the festival. Workshop and event dates and activities, are being compiled all the time. John Power

John Power former frontman of 90's band the La's whose 1990 hit 'There She Goes' secured him a huge Top 20 chart position. He then formed Cast and there followed a string of Top 10 singles. Performing in the evening, there is also a rare chance to take part in an afternoon songwriting workshop with him.

Stoke Your Fires - Festival of Animation - May 15th - 18th 2008

Stoke Your Fires 2008 is the first of an annual event celebrating animation in one of the UK's fastest growing animation communities - Stoke-on-Trent.

Organized in conjunction with the City of Stoke-on-Trent council, the festival will take place between the 15th and 18th of May 2008 at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, utilizing its 300 seat forum theatre for screenings of award winning animation, seminars, and Q&A sessions with a host of guest speakers. Who is Organising the Event:

The Burslem Arts Festival Group was formed in January 2006 to help make the Arts Festival an ongoing event twice a year in Burslem Town Centre. Representatives include Burslem School of Art, Stoke on Trent City Council, Jellifish Internet Services Ltd., Burslem Chamber of Trade, Ceramica and Burslem local business, including Port Vale, Moorcroft, Moorland Pottery and talented local Artists make up the group all making putting on this event a reality.

Aim of the Event:

To highlight Burslem as the creative area of the city. To help the local community to enjoy a special quality creative day in Burslem. To show off local artists work. To inspire a sense of joy and inspiration and aspiration in Burslem. To network local artists, community, business, new housing developments and creative housing developments. To include all groups and ages to take part and come together for the arts festival in a safe quality environment in the beautiful heritage setting of Burslem Town Centre.
